And where would you find this stainless steel alien eggs? At the Saebara Resort in the Red Sea, on Sheybarah Island... and yes the 73 reflective aliens eggs are in fact luxury 'orb-villas’ - 38 perched overwater and 35 more on the beachfront - all clad in a layer of polished stainless steel, reflecting the turquoise sea and cloudless sky.

Sheybarah Island, also referred to as Shebara, is an uninhabited isle off the Red Sea coast in Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk Province. Part of a 92-island archipelago earmarked for tourism under The Red Sea Project, it now hosts the striking Shebara Resort, a 73-villa luxury retreat that welcomed its first guests in November 2024.

Designed by Dubai’s Killa Design, the resort’s 73 reflective orb-villas are precision-prefabricated in Sharjah, transported intact, and sited onto steel-pile foundations with minimal seabed disruption, each pile touching only a few square metres of ocean floor. The cantilevered design not only enhances the floating illusion but also preserves the coral ecosystems below. The stainless steel shell not only looks good but is highly durable, low-maintenance in a harsh marine environment, and perfectly suited to resist corrosion.

Inside, the design reflects the exterior’s metallic surface. Studio Paolo Ferrari’s interiors continue the stainless steel theme in the villas bars, lamps and fittings, with travertine, oak and leather to strike a balance with the space age exterior. Each overwater unit connects guests to nature via infinity pools and panoramic glass doors.

Powered entirely by an on-site solar farm and supported by desalination and waste-recycling systems, Saebara Resort represents a new level in eco-luxury, and meets Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 environmental ambitions.

The resort was featured in TIME Magazine's "World's Greatest Places" of 2025.

This project shows exactly how versatile stainless steel can be, from it's use internally for stainless steel kitchens and fittings to the metal's corrosion resistant properites. It also just goes to show... with a bit of stainless steel, even paradise can have a little polish.
