The company, famous for its sports cars, has developed the sledge with sleek aluminium racing frame, stainless steel runners and a black imitation leather seat complete with the Porsche logo. The hard-wearing, waterproof sledge has no loose parts, folds up for easy storage and can be ready for use in seconds.
A Porsche spokesman said: "The new aluminium sledge with stainless steel runners was created by the Porsche Design Studio. A practical folding mechanism ensures that the sledge is ready to hit the snow in seconds, so nothing stands in the way of winter sledging fun." Sledging enthusiast Steve Blunt, 29, from Southampton, Hampshire, believes the sledge will be enjoyed by children and adults. He said: "This might be perfect for people who want to own a Porsche but cannot afford a car. When you get a good covering of snow and a steep hill the acceleration and top speed of this sledge should give most cars a run for their money."
The price - at launch - was a cool £328.
At DSM we have some stainless steel frames of our own, although we don't recommend you attempt sledging down the Cresta Run on any of ours!
