As most already know, Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station, located on the River Thames in London. It's a property that has been authorised for a redevelopment that includes 253 flats, bars, entertainment spaces and office spaces. Recently, it was announced that the iconic Control Room B, at Battersea, will become a new bar with an all day hospitality concept, with original Stainless Steel 1950s industrial control panels (see the image that goes with this article).
At its peak, the Battersea produced 1/5th of Londons power, and supplied electricity to many of Londons landmarks.
Control Room B opens directly onto Turbine Hall B, in contrast to the 1930s Control Room A which was a separate room. As it was built after the Second World War, it is more brutalist in design. It has faience tiling across the building and an arc of stainless steel control panels. The desks, original control room fittings, and switchgear complex are key features of the space and have been fully restored as part of the wider regeneration of Battersea
Upon completion, Battersea Power Station will become one of the most exciting retail and leisure destinations in London, having recently announced that major international brands such as Ralph Lauren, Ray-Ban, Tommy Hilfiger, Aesop, The Kooples and Calvin Klein will be opening inside the iconic building.
Simon Murphy, CEO of Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said:
“We are creating one of the most unique all-day bar experiences in London which will naturally become a centrepiece for Turbine Hall B. For the very first time in history, guests will be able to see the historic Control Room B in all its glory, sit back with a coffee or cocktail and soak up the breath-taking views of this heritage landmark that has finally been restored after years of lying derelict. When it opens late next Summer, it will not only be a great venue for socialising with friends and family or an impressive date night setting, it will also make the perfect backdrop for ‘that’ photo opportunity.”
We produce products that would be perfectly suited for a bar like 'Control Room A' like: Stainless Steel Bar Sinks and Stainless Steel Worktops... here's a little bar related science joke in honour of Battersea... "The barman says: “We don’t serve faster-than-light particles here.” A tachyon enters a bar.
