The new EV that will take you "Back to the Future"

Read on...

It was 1985 when Marty McFly travelled back in time, with Dr. Emmett Brown, in a DMC DeLorean made from Stainless Steel (we’ve talked a little about this before).  Well after a huge wait DeLorean have have officially revealed it’s forthcoming DeLorean EV.

With nods back to it’s classic 1980's stainless steel clad, gullwing-doored sports car, the new DMC EV has a striking and futuristic design. The new all-electric DMC revives the "Medusa" sedan concept that the original DeLorean Motor Company had started developing in 1982. Officially known internally as the DMC-24, the new car features two large electronically powered gullwing doors that expose the first and second row of seating.

The spec so far reads something like this:  a 100kWh battery pack should provide more than 300 miles of range, a dual-motor - all-wheel-drive setup; 0-60mph in 2.99 seconds; 0-88mph in 4.35 seconds (If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious s***!); a top speed of 155mph and a price tag of about  £150,000. Production is expected to begin at DMC's new San Antonio, TX facility in the next couple of years.

The DeLorean EV was revealed to those who signed up for early access on the official website. The full public reveal is on May 31st, followed by a formal showing at the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance car show on August 18.

“Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me you built a time machine...out of a DeLorean?”. Dr. Emmett Brown was a genius inventor.. I wonder if he could have made a time machine out of one of our Stainless Steel Kitchen Cupboards or maybe a Sit-on Sink? “Great Scott!”.
